About us

For more than 40 years, Gillian’s Place has been a safe refuge for women and their children escaping abuse. Influenced by the growing needs of our community, we have become more than just safe shelter, and offer a continuum of support services for women which include 24-hour support counselling, safety planning, emotional support, legal advocacy (we employ a full time family law lawyer), a transitional housing and support program, support for children who have witnessed violence in their homes and public education for our community. This past April, we expanded our ability to serve the women of Niagara by acquiring West Niagara Second Stage Housing & Counselling Inc. (now Gillian’s Place- West Niagara). This has expanded our reach into West Niagara rural communities, and allows us to offer longer-term transitional housing to women who are rebuilding their lives after abuse.
